French Hillside House is a refurbishment proposal for a traditional stone villa overlooking the Mediterranean landscape. The project focuses on a careful spatial reconfiguration, introducing two additional bedrooms, a new kitchen, and a series of architectural interventions that strengthen the relationship between the house, its terraces, and the surrounding landscape.

Guided by a philosophy of restraint, the design preserves the character of the existing villa while introducing contemporary living spaces defined by natural light, material honesty, and carefully considered proportions. Existing stone, terracotta, and lime plaster are complemented by a refined palette of oak and handcrafted finishes, creating a timeless dialogue between old and new.

Rather than transforming the architecture, the proposal seeks to reveal its inherent qualities through thoughtful planning and precise detailing. Although the project has not yet been realised, it represents an exploration of how subtle interventions can enrich the experience of a historic Mediterranean home while respecting its identity.
